DESCRIPTION Content:

- Processing of sputum specimens (Bacteriology);
- Processing of stool specimens (Bacteriology);
- Processing of wound specimens (Bacteriology);
- Processing of blood culture specimens (Bacteriology);
- Processing of specimens for Mycology;
- Processing of stools for parasites;
- Manual susceptibility testing (Bacteriology).

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Demonstrate different operating procedures according to which specimen is being processed;
- Organize the reagents, cultures, and necessary lab equipment that are required for sample processing; and
- Present the completed experiment in a written lab report.
