DESCRIPTION Anatomy of the abdomen, pelvis, head and neck and central nervous system. The study-unit aims at giving a good basic knowledge in anatomy with a focus on the clincal aspect.

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Describe the anatomical structure of the abdominal wall;
- Describe the peritoneal cavity;
- Describe the anatomical structures of the gastrointestinal tract – stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, pancreas and biliary tract;
- Describe the anatomical structures of the urinary tract – kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder and urethra;
- Describe the spleen;
- Describe the anatomical structures of the male and female reproductive organs;
- Describe the blood and nervous supply of the abdomen and pelvis;
- Describe the anatomical structures of the head and neck - thyroid gland, larynx, pharynx, oral cavity and teeth, the salivary glands, the eyes, the ears, the bones and muscles of the head, the scalp;
- Describe the blood and nervous supply of the head and neck;
- Describe the anatomical structures of central nervous system: the brain and spinal cord, the meninges;
- Describe the cranial nerves;
- Describe the clinical aspect of pathological processes arising in these anatomical structures.
