| DESCRIPTION | Objectives: The scope of this study unit is to discuss the artisitic character of Baroque Sculpture with particular reference to the productive activity of seventeenth century Rome and the overwhelming influence of Gianlorenzo Bernini and AlessanDr.o Algardi. Lectures will focus on aspects of artistic theory, style, and technique. The discussion of the mechanics and patterns of patronage will serve to put the works in their proper historical context. Baroque sculpture in Malta will be the subject of a mix of classroom and on-site lectures. Method of Teaching: 14 seminars of 60 min each, backed by discussions and site visits. Reading List: - R.
