| DESCRIPTION | This unit explores workplace misbehaviour and misconduct from both workers and employers, with attention to the role of HR professionals in addressing these issues. The unit examines different forms of workplace behaviours including cyber bullying, presenteeism, alcohol and drug use, technological misuse and romantic workplace relationships. Students will learn about different theoretical frameworks for understanding workplace misconduct, its antecedents and consequences, and strategies for prevention, management and resolution. The unit addresses the following applied key topics: - Exploring workplace misbehaviour through different theoretical lenses . - Developing and implementing effective workplace policies. - Explaining informal and formal approaches to conflict resolution including mediation. - Conducting workplace investigations Study-unit Aims The aim of the study unit is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand, prevent, and address various forms of workplace misbehaviour and misconduct, while developing strategies to promote ethical workplace cultures and effective conflict resolution. Learning Outcomes 1. Knowledge & Understanding,/u>: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Distinguish between different types of workplace misbehaviour and misconduct using multiple theoretical perspectives. - Describe the antecedents and consequences of workplace misconduct at individual, group, and organisational levels. - Explain the importance of ethical climate and leadership in preventing misconduct. - Describe different approaches to conflict management and resolution. - Describe the process of developing and implementing workplace policies. 2. Skills (including transferable [generic] skills): By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Analyse workplace misconduct scenarios using appropriate theoretical frameworks. - Design and evaluate workplace policies related to ethical behavior. - Critically evaluate the role of HR in addressing workplace misconduct. - Plan and conduct workplace investigations. - Apply conflict resolution and mediation techniques to workplace disputes.
