| DESCRIPTION | In this study-unit the four basic skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) will be broadened and consolidated in a way that enables participants to use the language effectively and flexibly in both social and professional environments. Therefore, a wide range of topics and themes which reflect the reality outside the classroom is offered (e.g. German literature, press texts or technical literature). Depending on students鈥� previous knowledge, this study-unit starts from level B2+ or the beginning of level C1.1. Study-unit Aims: The study-unit is designed to provide the first step to proficient language skills in speaking, listening, writing and reading German at level C1.1. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - understand German language use (reading, listening, speaking, writing) in social, academic and professional life; - understand relatively long spoken texts (e.g. radio talks); - understand a wide range of written texts, including long and more complex factual texts, commentaries and reports, even if these texts do not belong to his/her field of study; - understand a wide range of more complex vocabulary including idiomatic expressions and colloquial language. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - express his/her opinion clearly and well-structured in written texts on complex issues; - make clear, well-structured and detailed statements on complex topics, also in form of giving presentations, giving advice, negotiating etc.; - master different stylistic levels in formal and informal situations both in written and spoken form.
