DESCRIPTION This study-unit takes a project-based learning approach where students are introduced to basic project planning and implementation and teamwork principles They will then embark on a placement during which they will be given a task or tasks to complete under guided supervision to utilise both their Home Economics and their project planning and implementation and teamwork skills. Students will evaluate their experience looking at personal development and quality and impact of their project work.

Study-Unit Aims:

This study-unit aims at introducing students to project planning and implementation and teamwork and offering them the opportunity to put their Home Economics knowledge and practical skills, as well as their communication, organisational and teamwork skills into practice in a setting which promotes aspects of wellbeing.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Outline basic principles of good project planning and implementation and teamwork through analysis of different case studies;
- Discuss in groups the link between good communication and effective project planning and implementation and teamwork;
- Acknowledge, through critical reflection, the importance of needs assessment, resource audits, prioritisation and post-evaluation in effective project planning and implementation.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Apply Home Economics knowledge and practical skills, as well as communication, organisational and teamwork skills during the placements in the community or in business settings.
- Develop various communication tools when carrying out the placement experience, to deliver Home Economics-related messages suitable for specific audiences.
- Evaluate processes and outcomes of their project work in the placement setting, both individually and as a team. And set targets for self development.
