DESCRIPTION | The intention of this study-unit is to introduce innovative technologies that are used in insurance and risk management, such as for example - DLT, prepare students for the implications and disruptions and opportunities that these bring to this sector of the economy and provide them with the tools necessary to manage them. Study-unit Aims: To familiarize students using risk management case studies and real world experiences with emerging technologies, the implications and opportunities these offer to the economy and the tools available to determine, monitor and manage the risks they bring on. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to describe and analyse cases of real world experiences and report on them. Also, they will be able to determine the need/use of Emerging Technologies in the Financial ¸£ÀûÔÚÏßÃâ·Ñ Industry and related environments and explain the processes and procedures for its implementation in any environment. Moreover, having learnt of the current tools available and looked into case studies, they will be able to determine and manage the risks and opportunities these bring on. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to apply the principles underpinning the use of Emerging Technologies in determining risks and opportunity they bring with them and managing them. Also, faced with real cases, the students will be able to use his/her analytic frame of mind to make adequate predictions of the impact and process/policy requirement.
