DESCRIPTION This study-unit explores the manifestation of creativity and innovation in the cultural and creative industries. It explores the role of creativity and innovation within the cultural sector, and examines the notion of ‘creative cities’. A special focus shall be on the influence of policies and strategies for culture and the arts, as illustrated in applied settings within the cultural and creative industries in general.

Study-unit Aims:

This study-unit aims to illustrate the dynamics that exist between different stakeholders, innovation and new technologies, national policies and strategies, users, organisations and other stakeholders within the cultural and creative industries.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Discuss the influence of national policies and strategies on creativity and innovation in the cultural and creative industries;
- Identify the different stakeholders in the cultural and creative industries.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Discuss the role of policies and strategies within the cultural and creative industries;
- Evaluate the role of different stakeholders within applied settings related to the cultural and creative industries.
