| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will explore in greater depth practical aspects of management, including planning, class activities, and assessment. The study-unit will also include critical consideration of how different teaching and learning environments affect these practical activities. Study-unit Aims: This unit aims to teach students to: - Adapt and develop materials for teaching LSM in community, further, and higher education settings; - Design materials and plans for the overall course as well as individual sessions; - Consider the role of formative, summative, and diagnostic assessment; - Consider the importance of alignment, feedback, and quality assurance in marking practices. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Consider the role of assessment for formative, summative, and diagnostic purposes; - Critically evaluate and apply linguistic theory to the development of materials, lesson plans, and assessments. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Evaluate the value of feedback at different stages of the student experience; - Demonstrate alignment between teaching and assessment in their own practice; - Practice a range of methods of to ensure fairness and consistency in marking student assessments.
