| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit intends to: 鈥� Explain the basic histopathology and cytopathology procedures and outline the specialized techniques in each respective area; 鈥� Describe the practical application of immunohistochemical techniques in histopathology and cytology, and discuss important scenarios such as breast cancer and colon testing by antibodies and receptor testing; 鈥� Describe techniques of liquid based cytology; 鈥� Outline the techniques of HPV testing and of in situ hybridization; 鈥� Define what sample types are submitted to the histo- and cyto- pathology and their processing; 鈥� Outline the use of the light microscope and its significance in detecting and diagnosing abnormal changes in a cell type. |
