DESCRIPTION | The study-unit provides guidance on how marketing executives can make the most of digital media to meet marketing goals. Marketing design tools and techniques are introduced to help students understand the methods for implementing effective marketing communications in the real world. The subjects discussed during the study-unit include: - Review of stock photography resources and the skills required to adapt and develop customized visual material; - Creating and developing visual material with Adobe Illustrator, Gimp, Inkscape or similar software; - Working with Adobe Photoshop or similar software; - Creating basic animated visuals. Study-unit Aims: The study-unit aims to provide students with an overview of the practical tools for visual design that marketing practitioners require to produce or to outsource to specialist firms. The study-unit also demonstrates the fundamental online and offline tools available for the design of visual materials. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - List the technology and applications available to create marketing materials of static visual, video and audio nature; - Recognize the benefits and limitations of the available technology; - Identify the best online and offline resources for the task objective. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Apply best practices for the design of visual materials both online and offline, taking into consideration the leading tools and technologies; - Apply the skills acquired to design basic marketing materials; - Operate applications that will help them create basic visuals for advertising in the format of billboards, print advertisements and online banners; - Operate applications to create basic dynamic visuals for online advertising; - Operate applications to develop basic audio and video marketing materials.
