| DESCRIPTION | The purpose of the dissertation for the Master of Arts in Business Ethics is to develop students' understanding of, an capacity to critically appraise, develop and apply research skills and methods in one's reflection on an aspect of business ethics. The course seeks to furnish students with the skills to read critically, reflect and interpret texts using paper based and electronic sources. It will eventually provide students with the strong foundation necessary to proceed on to conducting their own academic research. Study-unit Aims The overall aim of the dissertation is to allow students to extend their understanding of business ethics by pursuing an independent research project on a chosen topic. Learning Outcomes 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - read and understand research papers - sustain an in-depth critical analysis. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - write critically on particular business ethics related issues - articulate systematic and critical analysis - continue their own competence in research, specialization and personal formation. | ADDITIONAL NOTES | Pre-Requisite Study-units: The compulsory taught study-units (60ects) offered. **September Assessment Session: Students who fail to obtain an overall pass mark will be re-examined in the Dissertation. However, the resit availability for the Oral Examination is at the discretion of the Board of Examiners. |
