| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit reflects on the mission received by the Church to help build the 鈥淜ingdom鈥 brought about by Christ. The aim of the unit is to bring the students to a deeper insight of this central Gospel theme (i.e. the Kingdom) and of the special role that the laity play in this mission. This mission implies full insertion in the world in the footsteps of the Son of God who inserted himself fully in the world in Incarnation and who became a deeply socially committed person. The demands of God鈥檚 鈥渢riple鈥 commandment of love will also be analysed. Study-Unit Aims: Students will be helped to grasp the theology behind the spirituality of Social Commitment especially as it comes out from the Gospels and other Biblical texts. This is also to be seen in the light of the Theology of the Laity especially as it comes out in the Constitution Lumen Gentium. Other concepts that will be explained are the following: - Personal and Structural Sins, - Option for the Poor, - A Spirituality for Justice, - The Bible and Human Rights, - The Social Implications of the Eucharist, - The Prayer of the Desperate.
