| DESCRIPTION | A good level of vocal technique is expected prior to entering the unit. During the sessions the student will concentrate of the study of a selected repertoire, its performance and interpretation. Here the vocal repertoire which will be studied consist of Italian and German songs of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Students will be guided to sing in the original German and Italian language. Study-unit Aims: Students registering for this study-unit must already have a good level of technique. This can allow the student to develop and achieve a high level of performance based on a good understanding of style and interpretation. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to perform a vast repertoire of German and Italian songs /lieder from the 19th and early 20th centuries. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: a. Improve their public performance skills through better stage confidence and a better physical and mental preparation; b. Interpret a selected repertoire with a high musical level of performance and a good understanding of style.
