DESCRIPTION | This study-unit presents the performing students with the opportunity to perform music in ensemble. Emphasis is placed on both the individual and collective contribution towards a refined level of chamber music interpretation. Standard repertoire from the different periods and involving different instrumental combinations will be chosen. Attention will be given to performance in public. Study-unit Aims: This study-unit aims to: a) acquaint students with the standard chamber-music repertoire; b) assist students in the preparation for a public performance; c) offer students the opportunity to learn how to collaborate together in a team. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: a) explore how the musical and the social come together in ensemble playing; b) improve group thinking skills in a musical context; c) identify the right rehearsing techniques in ensemble playing. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: a) apply in practice theories related to ensemble playing; b) analyse the process of ensemble playing; c) perform in public with an ensemble.
