DESCRIPTION In this study unit, students will finalize their clinical cases in oral rehabilitation by combining clinical skills in the disciplines of Operative dentistry, Prosthodontics, Periodontics and Preventive Dentistry.

Study-Unit Aims:

The aim of this Study-Unit is to provide the student with the clinical setting to plan and provide comprehensive rehabilitative treatment to patients seeking treatment at the Faculty of Dental Surgery. Students are expected to complete successfully the clinical requirements. A list of the clinical requirements will be published on the Faculty Website. All completed cases are to be presented in a logbook format.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Discuss in an evidence-based manner the clinical data obtained from patients
- Formulate an evidence-based treatment plan for patients seeking rehabilitative treatment
- Discuss and defend the clinical steps involved when providing comprehensive treatment to patients

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Collect clinical data
- Interpret correctly the patient data and presenting complaints in clinical practice
- Communicate with the patient the most appropriate clinical treatment, along with alternative treatment plans
- Organize the sequencing of all the clinical steps involved in the management of the patient
- Provide treatment
- Design and implement an appropriate maintenance therapy programme and evaluation of aftercare

Please note that a pass in all assessment components is obligatory for an overall pass mark to be awarded.

Attendance to practical, laboratory and clinical components is compulsory. Students who do not attend at least 90% of the scheduled sessions will not be allowed to sit for any of the assessment components mentioned below.
