DESCRIPTION | This third-year study-unit consolidates the student's clinical skills relating to older adult clients in diverse clinical setting. Study-unit Aims: The aims of the study-unit are to: - Justify the role of the dental clinical professional in a clinical setting managing older adults; - Consolidate students' professionalism while providing realistic dental services for older adults; - Provide opportunities to integrate evidence-based dentistry in clinical settings; - Foster the integration of knowledge and theory into dental practice. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Formulate a dental care plan for older adults; - Organise and provide dental services to patients in clinical settings according to the exigencies of the older adult patient; - Participate in the management of oral diseases; - Collaborate with other professionals in providing quality health care to older adults. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Justify a dental care plan for older adults; - Organize patient care with other healthcare providers to optimize health for the older adult patient; - Administer comprehensive treatment care according to the patients' needs; - Use evidence-based knowledge in decision-making. |
