DESCRIPTION This study-unit focuses on the delivery and application of the pedagogical elements delivered throughout the course which are put into practice. This study-unit contains sessions of micro coaching in which students are to show competencies in pedagogical skills and components within the coaching check list developed and discussed throughout the course.

Study Unit Aims:

The study-unit aims at:
• Engaging students in the implementation of theoretical aspects covered across the course of studies;
• Engaging students in observing coaches on the field;
• Providing students with opportunities to link theoretical concepts with practice in coaching sessions;
• Exposing students to contextual coaching experiences.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge and Understanding
By the end of the study-unit students will be able to:

• Differentiate between profitable coaching sessions and others with lesser quality outcomes;
• Structure coaching plans by drawing on pedagogical concepts covered across the course work;
• Apply reflection on pedagogical concepts during assessment and evaluation of the coach at work.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit students will be able to:

• Reflect on pedagogical principles in coaching and implementing these in practices;
• Reflect on the quality of observed coaching practices;
• Evaluate and assess the quality of sports coaching;
• Reflect on pedagogical aspects and understand how these impinge on learning and engagement within micro coaching practices.
