| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit provides students with an opportunity to carry out twenty hours of administrative work with a sports association, sports club, the Malta Olympic Committee or SportMalta. Following consultation and discussion with the unit co-ordinator, students will identify an organisation, set targets, and then reflect on their performance and on the learning outcomes of the administrative work carried out. Study-Unit Aims: This study-unit aims to teach students about the operations management of a sports organisation through a hands on work-based approach. This will allow students to gain a practical, real-world experience of local sports organisations and their administration, while learning about their challenges in relation to financial and human resources. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Demonstrate knowledge of the procedures, practices, processes and disciplines of working with a sports organisation; - Demonstrate a better understanding of how resources, including financial and human, are maximised in the local sport scenario; - Demonstrate knowledge on events planning and managing, including national and international tournaments. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Reflect on the operations of a local sports organisation; - Reflect on the skills developed during this work-based unit; - Develop administrative skill using a hands-on approach; - Take initiative to co-ordinate an activity or event; - Communicate with other personnel working in the field of sports. | ADDITIONAL NOTES | Students who are currently elite National team athletes can register for this study-unit after consultation with the unit co-ordinator and carry out administrative work with their sport organisation. | ||||||||
