DESCRIPTION | The placement includes 75-105 placement hours of sports related work with a sports organisation or in event management that will serve as an initial contact in the sports industry. During this placement, participants are encouraged to shadow someone who is experienced, before actually engaging themselves in hands on experience. Participants will also produce written documentation on the planning, delivery and evaluation of their placement work, and a log of the work carried out. Students will be assessed by one or more placement visits as well as by presenting a logbook of work conducted and a reflective diary. Study-Unit Aims: This sport placement will enable students to develop skills and knowledge while experiencing first-hand life in a sport organisation. This experience is an important way to improve student employability and to begin a career in the field of sport and physical activity. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Put theory into practice in a sport or physical activity work environment; - Demonstrate knowledge of the procedures, practices, processes and disciplines of working within a sports and physical activity related organisation. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Communicate effectively with participants, colleagues and employers on technical and professional matters; - Plan, record and reflectively evaluate his/her sport and physical activity related work; - Take initiative and manage his/her own time and prioritise workloads.
