DESCRIPTION | This study-unit takes the students to the applied principles of musculoskeletal physiotherapy theory and practice, and expands on the learning from PHT2010 Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy I, especially in orthopaedics and rheumatology and sports injuries. It entails a blended learning approach of lectures and practical sessions with the application of the latest evidence to case studies. Study-unit Aims: The aim of this study-unit is to deepen the students' knowledge in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Thus the study-unit seeks to provide students with an opportunity to learn how to apply, discuss and reflect on the latest theories in the management of orthopaedic, rheumatological and sports injuries. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Corroborate the latest research to the management of musculoskeletal issues; - Reflect in and on the latest research; - Apply the latest research to a multitude of case scenarios. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Assess musculoskeletal injuries including sports injuries; - Apply the evidence to the management of musculoskeletal injuries including sports injuries; - Revisit the rehabilitation outcomes to decide on a way forward; and - Communicate the findings to a wider audience. |
