| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit presents a detailed analysis of the relationship between the Scripture and the liturgy. This warrants an exploration of the liturgy as present in Scripture. However, the relationship between the two operates as a continuum on two levels. First, the Bible and the Liturgy as an intratextual continuum, or as a foundational event. The second level is the extratextual continuum, or the Bible in the Liturgy. These various nuances explore the depth of the riches of these two intertwined aspects. Study-Unit Aims: The study-unit aims to delve deeper into the relationship between the Scripture and the liturgy, since "the liturgy ... is the perfect actualisation of the biblical texts." This would lead to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the various nuances of the link, or "continuum" between the the two, especially depending on the point of departure, be it the Scripture itself or the celebration. Such a reflection warrants an exploration into the notion of the Scripture and the Liturgy as a foundational saving event, together with the notion of the Scripture in liturgy. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1. identify the link between Scripture and liturgy; 2. describe how the liturgy is evident in the Bible; 3. list the hermeneutical principles underlying their relationship; 4. recognize the intra-textual continuum between the Bible and liturgy; 5. discuss how the Bible and liturgy are envisaged as an extra-textual continuum; 6. make sense out of the reformulation of Scripture in the liturgical celebration. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1. reflectively assess the different nuances between the terms "Bible" and "liturgy"; 2. criticize the use of the Bible within the liturgy; 3. formulate their conclusion after having engaged in research in order to further explore this rich area; 4. creatively apply this understanding to other fields which include one of the main themes of this module, either the Scripture or the liturgy.
