DESCRIPTION | This study-unit should provide students with knowledge on the most important policies related to the agricultural and food legislation. These policies are related to land, water, labour and credit policies. The students will also explore research, education and extension policies and how farmers organisations are managed. This study units will help the students understand the role of each individual producer within a national and a European environment. Study-unit Aims Provide the students with the analytical skills required to analyse specific situations (al local, national and international level) and to elaborate participatory strategies of agricultural policies. Learning Outcomes 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1) interpret land policies, water policies, labour policies and credit policies 2) discuss the role of farmers organisations; 3) natural resources management; 4) define the role of State and privatization; 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1) relate research, education and extension policies; 2) discuss policy design and empowerment of stakeholders; 3) develop structural adjustment programs and their impacts on agriculture.
