| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will cover the Greek Language in further detail. It will tackle the irregular verbs, and the participle, the latter having a very important function within the language. The Students will also be given a wider vocabulary that will built on the one from the previous course. Short and graded paragraphs from the text of the New Testament will be presented to the students and analysed together in class. Basic elements of syntax will also be introduced to the students thus providing them with the tools necessary for the linguistic analysis of the biblical text. Study-Unit Aims: This study-unit aims at covering all the basic and principal elements of New Testament Greek morphology in order to give the students a working knowledge of the Greek language. It also aims at introducing the students to the Greek Syntax which will prove foundational for reading selected texts from the New Testament. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - a good knowledge of irregular verbs; - identify the verbal stem; - identify the function of a word within the sentence; - understand the syntactical relationship of the words within the sentence. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - parse words by identifying their various components and elements; - read and understand sentences from the New Testament; - translate complex sentences from the New Testament.
