DESCRIPTION The study-unit will be discussing the biblical foundation of Spiritual Theology. It is a theology that is deeply rooted in Sacred Scripture, the source of God's revelation as Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer, fully realized in Christ Jesus and in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The study unit will focus on the Christ-centredness of Christian discipleship and the life-path to holiness, keeping Old Testament narratives in the background.

Study-Unit Aims:

The aim of the study-unit is to enlighten the students in discovering and valuing God's call to holiness, rooted in being created in the image and likeness of the Creator and recreated through the salvific act of the Cross and Resurrection, enlivened by the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Clarify how the Scriptures are the foundation of Spiritual Theology;
- Describe the ways in which the Scriptures present holiness as a criterion for godly living;
- Identify the traits of individual and collective faith鈥恊xperience narratives in both the Old and New Testament that deal with holiness.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Appraise the Trinitarian dimension of Biblical spirituality;
- Value the New Testament salvific act of the Cross and Resurrection in relation to creation in God鈥檚 image in the Old Testament;
- Critique the role of the Holy Spirit in the process of Christian discipleship as presented in the Scriptures;
- Interpret the Scriptures in the quest to nurture one's own spiritual life and that of others walking in the same life-path.
