DESCRIPTION The study-unit will be reviewing in-depth the Apostolic Exhortation issued by Pope Benedict XVI, Verbum Domini, fruit of the Synod of Bishops dedicated to the Role of the Word of God in the Life of the Church. The Conciliar Document on Divine Revelation, Dei Verbum, will be kept in the background, as well as Pope Francis' Apostolic Letter 'Aperuit Illis'. This in view of eliciting the Principles of Bible Ministry in the context of the Catholic Church in today's multi-cultural and religious world.

Study-Unit Aims:

The aim of the study-unit is to enlighten students in considering Sacred Scripture as being the Word of God, continuously proclaimed in the Liturgy and in the Life of the Church and learning how to let the Bible inspire pastoral ministry and activity.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Define the value of Sacred Scripture in the different ministries of the Church;
- Describe how the Bible has become a normative code for different human cultures;
- Demonstrate how the Bible can be an instrument of dialogue with ever-changing cultures and even with other religions.
- Comment on pertinent Church documents that speak about Bible ministry.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Appraise the main characteristics of the Word of God in the Scriptures;
- Illustrate the Scriptures’ relevance in creating new forms of evangelization;
- Explain how the Scriptures can be used especially in the modern day areopaga of the media;
- Categorize the various principles that underpin Biblical ministry in one’s community of faith.
