DESCRIPTION Course in Spanish Language Level 5.

This unit takes up where Spanish Language 4 left off although it would also be suitable for students who already have a prior knowledge of Spanish at intermediate level. Through this unit students will be able to express themselves reasonably accurately and / or in writing using a comprehensive but simple repertoire of vocabulary, structures and formulas regarding daily or general interest topics. In addition, students will be able to express themselves fluently in the past, present and future and meet some uses of the subjunctive mood.

Study-unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit is to enable the student to cover the first part of four of the B1 or 'Intermediate' level of competence in Spanish language on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) as set out at http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/education/elp/elp-reg/Source/Key_reference/Overview_CEFRscales_EN.pdf

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc; deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to express opinions; convey what others have said; talk about the future and the past, to make hypotheses and talk about probability; request, grant and deny permission; make recommendations and give advice and instructions; write a letter.
