DESCRIPTION | The unit enables students to acquire advanced knowledge and research skills that could be employed in the academic and clinical setting. Students will be assigned a local supervisor, and if necessary an external co-supervisor, to enable them to draw up a research proposal and undertake the research project. Study-Unit Aims: This Master of Science Course, which is mainly by Research, will allow candidates to specialize in their chosen area of studies. This study-unit aims to train the students about research and reflective skills in the field of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture research. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: a. Acquire the background knowledge related to developing a research proposal; b. Be able to critically appraise published scientific literature; c. Be able to discuss research finding in the light of current knowledge. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: a. Effectively accessing and applying information technology to research; b. Formulate and apply a research proposal in the field of TCM; c. Analyzing the data and experimental proposal provided; d. Store and retrieve information; e. ADDITIONAL NOTES | Co-requisite Study-units: TCM5101; TCM5102. **September Assessment Session: Students who fail to obtain an overall pass mark will be re-examined in the Dissertation. However, the resit availability for the Oral Examination is at the discretion of the Board of Examiners. |
