Authors: Zammit, Anthony
Abstract: The aim, indications, timing, method of guidance, illustrated technique of mammographic guidance and surgical precautions for localisation of breast lesions are discussed. The aim is to provide a tract to guide the surgeon towards the lesion with resultant conservative surgery.1990-01-01T00:00:00ZPostmenopausal bone loss : prevention and replacementBrincat, Mark P.Meschia, M.Barbacini, E.Crosignani, P.G.Albisetti, WalterPietrogrande, V./library/oar/handle/123456789/6872020-07-17T09:49:07Z1990-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Postmenopausal bone loss : prevention and replacement

Abstract: Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder predominantly affecting postmenopausal women. Combination therapy of Carbocalcitonin (Elcatonin) and oral conjugated oestrogens (Premarin) not only prevents postmenopausal bone loss but leads to an increase in bone mass in normal early postmenopausal women. The aims of the study was to investigate the effect of combination therapy. A combination of Elcatonin (Carbo calcitonin) and Premarin was compared to Premarin alone, and to Elcatonin (Carbocalcitonin) alone and all groups were then compared to a control group.1990-01-01T00:00:00ZMaltese medical folklore : man and the herpetofauna in Malta : a reviewSavona-Ventura, Charles/library/oar/handle/123456789/6762020-05-22T12:53:24Z1990-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Maltese medical folklore : man and the herpetofauna in Malta : a review
Authors: Savona-Ventura, Charles
Abstract: Man throughout his evolutionary history has attempted to treat and control disease processes which have affected him, often turning to chemical substances extracted from animals and plants for medicinal purposes. Although experimenting unscientifically, a useful therapeutic measure was occasionally discovered. Man on the Maltese Islands until relatively recent times set great value on natural chemical substances for use in natural remedies, very often in association with religious beliefs and folklore. In spite of the limitations of species number, reptiles and amphibians have been regarded as having powers of healing or alternatively as bringing on disease.1990-01-01T00:00:00ZBiochemical markers in cancer of the ovary : a reviewCauchi, Maurice N./library/oar/handle/123456789/5902020-07-17T09:40:37Z1990-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Biochemical markers in cancer of the ovary : a review
Authors: Cauchi, Maurice N.
Abstract: The ideal tumour marker would be one which is detectable before obvious clinical involvement. A number of biochemical markers have been used to diagnose carcinoma of the ovary. This article names several aspects of ovarian tumour markers such as CA125, Tissue Polypeptide Antigen (TPA), Lipid -Associated Sialic Acid (LASA-P), CA 19-9 and others.1990-01-01T00:00:00Z
