Authors: Grech, Victor E.; DeGiovanni, Joseph V.
Abstract: It is accepted practice to close large patent arterial ducts (PDA) with Amplatzer duct occluder
devices, with extremely low rates of residual PDA. This article reports a child who required device closure
of PDA with two Amplatzer PDA devices on two separate occasions, despite the first device
deployment being a standard placement of an appropriately sized Amplatzer device in the usual
position.2011-01-01T00:00:00ZThe chest x-ray in congenital heart disease 4Somerville, JaneGrech, Victor E./library/oar/handle/123456789/42442018-01-03T13:00:54Z2011-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: The chest x-ray in congenital heart disease 4
Authors: Somerville, Jane; Grech, Victor E.
Abstract: This paper is the fourth of our series focusing on the chest x-ray (CXR), highlighting
that this remains a useful and relatively cheap investigation in congenital heart
disease and allows objective serial comparison. These x-rays are from a female aged 45 years with a secundum atrial septal defect and pulmonary hypertension. Figure one shows a very large heart and gross pulmonary artery dilatatation, evidence of longstanding left to right shunt with pulmonary artery dilatation to periphery of lungs and prominent pulmonary veins in upper lobes.2011-01-01T00:00:00ZThree-dimensional trans-esophageal echocardiographic evaluation of atrial Septal defects : a pictorial essaySharma, Vinay KumarRadhakrishnan, SitaramanShrivastava, Sameer/library/oar/handle/123456789/42432017-12-27T08:56:14Z2011-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Three-dimensional trans-esophageal echocardiographic evaluation of atrial Septal defects : a pictorial essay
Authors: Sharma, Vinay Kumar; Radhakrishnan, Sitaraman; Shrivastava, Sameer
Abstract: This pictorial assay illustrates the methodology of evaluating the atrial septal defects
by three dimensional transesophageal echocardiography with the help of
representative images. The article starts by discussing the technical details of how to
acquire and crop the dataset to reconstruct the transesophageal three dimensional
echocardiographic images of the inter atrial septum. Next, the anatomical details of
the normal inter atrial septum are illustrated, followed by representative examples of
all the possible defects of inter atrial septum. All the images have been reproduced in
a uniform pattern which is similar to the view of the inter atrial septum that is seen in
the real life situation by the surgeon.2011-01-01T00:00:00ZMetastatic Ewing's sarcoma to the right ventricleDatrice, NicoleMilliken, JeffreyKirsh, M.Abolhoda, AmirSaremi, FarhoodSender, Leonard/library/oar/handle/123456789/42422018-01-16T13:43:16Z2011-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Metastatic Ewing's sarcoma to the right ventricle
Authors: Datrice, Nicole; Milliken, Jeffrey; Kirsh, M.; Abolhoda, Amir; Saremi, Farhood; Sender, Leonard
Abstract: Ewing's sarcoma is a round cell neoplasm derived from neural crest cells that is part
of the primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) family. It is a rare, aggressive
malignancy that affects young people, most commonly in the second decade of life.
The treatment of localized disease has improved greatly over the past four decades,
but the prognosis for metastatic disease remains poor. Cardiac metastases of
Ewing's sarcoma are exceedingly rare, with only a few reported cases. This article presents a case of a 22 year old man with a history of Ewing's sarcoma of the
bone involving the right knee2011-01-01T00:00:00Z
