Based on 5050 listed firms in eight European countries, the results of the study reveal that the owners in low level of legal protection are more likely to use the capital structure of the firms in order to serve their proper interests. In high level of legal protection, the market based system and the debts are enrolled to constraint the expropriation of private benefits. 2014-01-01T00:00:00Z Is there a heteroscedasticity due to gender in the adult learning? A view from Europe Authors: Biagetti, Marco; Scichittano, Sergio Abstract: In this article the cross section nature of the European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC), the new homogenized European panel survey, is exploited to check for unobserved heteroskedasticity due to gender in the adult learning. We focus our analysis on a whole sample of 21 European countries. We find a significant heteroskedasticity due to sex in the adult learning in Europe. 2014-01-01T00:00:00Z On the dynamic linkages between CO2 emissions, energy consumption and growth in Greece Katrakilidis, Constantinos P. Kyritsis, Ioannis Patsika, V. /library/oar/handle/123456789/30717 2018-06-05T01:24:05Z 2014-01-01T00:00:00Z Title: On the dynamic linkages between CO2 emissions, energy consumption and growth in Greece Authors: Katrakilidis, Constantinos P.; Kyritsis, Ioannis; Patsika, V. Abstract: This paper attempts to analyze the short-and long-run causal dynamic interactions between energy consumption, CO2 emissions and economic growth in Greece, using time-series techniques. To this end, annual data covering the period 1980-2012 are employed and tests for unit roots, the ARDL-bounds approach of cointegration, and Granger-causality based on error-correction models are applied. The results reveal strong feedback in the long-run between all the examined variables. For the shortrun, there is evidence of two-way causality in all examined pairs with only exception the direction CO2 towards GDP. 2014-01-01T00:00:00Z Modern financial tools that can be used by municipalities : an empirical investigation from Greece Pallis, Christos L. Pallis, Petros L. /library/oar/handle/123456789/30716 2018-06-05T01:23:55Z 2014-01-01T00:00:00Z Title: Modern financial tools that can be used by municipalities : an empirical investigation from Greece Authors: Pallis, Christos L.; Pallis, Petros L. Abstract: Present-day municipalities constitute important, dynamic, administrative and institutional entities which aim at developing local communities, tackling problems of peripherality and social cohesion and lifting exclusion. The primary aim of this survey is to investigate issues concerning Greek municipalities, such as the financial problems they face and which is the funding scheme they prefer. More specifically, the questionnaire - that was sent to the entire sample of Greek municipalities - examined the views of Mayors in each Municipality as regards: (a) What are the modern financial tools that can be used by municipalities? How they evaluate them? What they suggest what and what they prefer? The aim of the empirical analyses carried out is to draw useful and representative conclusions on issues concerning sources of funding in municipalities. 2014-01-01T00:00:00Z
