Abstract: While bird-watching at Xlendi Bay in Gozo on 1st April 1979 we witnessed an
unusual behaviour. It was a cold day, the sky was heavily overcast and it was
drizzling all the time. Then, under the cornice on the top floor of a two storey
house still under construction, we saw a flock of about 120 House Martins
Delichon urbica clinging with their feet to the vertical wall, huddled together
and sheltering from the rain.1980-01-01T00:00:00ZIl-Merill : bulletin of the Ornithological Society no. 20/library/oar/handle/123456789/392992019-01-31T02:31:51Z1980-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Il-Merill : bulletin of the Ornithological Society no. 20
Abstract: The Ornithological Society was founded in 1962 to promote the scientific study
of ornithology and bird conservation in the Maltese Islands. It organised a
variety of scientific and social activities. It has its own ringing scheme, its
own publications and a young members' section.1980-01-01T00:00:00ZReport on bird ringing for 1977 and 1978/library/oar/handle/123456789/392982019-01-31T02:32:06Z1980-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Report on bird ringing for 1977 and 1978
Abstract: This report covers the two-year period 1977-78 during which a total of 24,941
birds was ringed. This represents an increase of 5,256 birds on the two previous
corresponding years (1975-76). This increase is mostly due to a greater effort
and efficiency on the part of some of the ringers who spent more hours in the
field. By the end of 1978 the grand total stood at 89,186 of 131 species.1980-01-01T00:00:00ZWardlaw ramsay's records of S. cantillans from Malta/library/oar/handle/123456789/392972019-01-31T02:32:05Z1980-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Wardlaw ramsay's records of S. cantillans from Malta
Abstract: Wardlaw Ramsay (1923) stated that both the nominate cantillans as well as
the race albistriata of the Subalpine Warbler Sylvia cantillans occur in Malta
and mentioned that two specimens of albistriata were obtained "4/9/14" and two
others belonging to the nominate race were obtained on "9/9/14". In all past
Literature previous to 1975 there has been no mention of other records of
albistriata except those of Ramsay.1980-01-01T00:00:00Z
