Title: M. O. S. bird ringing group report for 1971 Abstract: This special issue carries the third report of the M.O.S. Bird Ringing Group. It is the first time that the Systematic List and the Ringing Report figure in the same number, a format which we hope will be kept in future Ringing Group reports. 1971 was a highly successful year both for ringing and observation. It will long be remembered for the large autumn falls of passerines, record number of birds ringed and a record number of birds recovered abroad.
