Title: The St. Luke`s Hospital Gazette: Volume 1, Issue 1
Abstract: The main aim of this journal is explained within the introduction, mainly that of reporting the medical activities from Malta, especially original contributions from the Maltese medical profession. Furthermore, a brief historical overview of the Maltese medical importance since the Knights of St. John, and throughout World War I and II is provided, focusing particularly on St. Luke`s Hospital Malta. “St. Luke`s” is staffed almost completely by graduates of the Royal University of Malta, and almost every member has pursued studies in Great Britain, the British Colleges of medicine, surgery, obstetrics and pathology. A remarkable section within the journal refers to a scientific publications list by graduates of the Maltese medical and dental schools since 1961. Of significant importance is the medical news section, as well as “Our Colleagues Abroad” section, the latter providing information regarding Maltese medical physicians living and working overseas. Noteworthy also are some advertisements promoting the names of certain pharmaceuticals at that time.1966-01-01T00:00:00ZThe grande multipara

Title: Stapedectomy with a spring prosthesis
Authors: Sultana, W.A.
Abstract: Otosclerosis is an abnormal growth of bone near the middle ear, which can result in hearing loss. Stapedectomy is the surgical intervention required for this anomaly. The causes of sensory-neural changes in the labyrinth following stapedectomy are discussed, whereby a new technique making use of the spring prosthesis is described and its advantages outlined. The majority of cases who implemented the spring prosthesis showed remarkable improvement, and more importantly is that no sensory-neural changes in the labyrinth have been observed following its use.1966-01-01T00:00:00ZOcular toxoplasmosis: a report on a case discovered in Malta
