Abstract: Manoel Theatre presents the programme for the Manoel Opera Festival 1999, featuring performances of the operas "Norma" (written by Felice Romani and composed by Vincenzo Bellini), and "I Martiri" (writtten by Vincenzo Maria Pellegrini and composed by Carmelo Pace), as well as a concert performance of Nicolò Isouard's 'De Rohan' Mass. "Norma" was artistically directed by Francesco Esposito, with musical direction from Joseph Vella, while "I Martiri" was artistically directed by Joseph Fenech, with musical direction from Joseph Vella. The concert performance of the 'De Rohan' Mass was conducted by John Galea, and led by Mario Bisazza. The opera performances of "Norma" and "I Martiri" both featured the National Orchestra (led by Marcelline Agius), and the Teatru Manoel Choir (led by chorus mistress Simone Attard). The opera performance of "I Martiri" also featured the Contemporary Artistic Talent Society (C.A.T.S.) Dancers. Meanwhile, the concert performance featured the Chorus Urbanus, which was led by choir mistress Norma Camilleri. The performance of "Norma" was held on the 2nd and the 4th of March, 1999. The concert performance of the 'De Rohan' Mass was held on the 7th of March, and the opera performance of "I Martiri" was held on the 9th of March, 1999. All of the performances were held at the Manoel Theatre, in Valletta.
