Three nations’ cultural dimensions, uncertainty avoidance, power distance and individualism that taken from Hofstede are applied in analyzing punctuality in Chinese and Maltese cultures. Items from a more recent scale Culture Value Scale (CVSCALE), which examine cultural dimensions based from Hofstede at an individual level, are utilized to discover the relations between personal traits and crosscultural adaptation as well as to test the three cultural dimensions on Chinese individuals who living in Malta. Other cultural factors, personal factors and environmental factors that could affect one’s assimilation in a new cultural environment are mainly investigated by the focus group. Results from questions in the questionnaires, which are designed to assess punctuality among Chinese people living in China, Chinese people living in Malta and Maltese people living in Malta, that do not meet hypothesized expectation are also clarified by the focus group. Since punctuality is perceived differently by Maltese and Chinese people, they all behave following the “appropriate time” one society tells them. While Chinese people generally regard being punctual as not having to arrive later than appointed time, many of the Maltese people believe they are expected to be late for meeting friends. Musical performances in Malta are now very common and the public is often informed of their existence by means of social media platforms. Interviews were carried out with three organisations: Teatru Manoel, Teatru Salesjan and The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra in order to understand the tactics used for promoting classical music events in Malta and how and why they use social media in the process. A questionnaire was sent out to the general public in order to analyse the intentions of the public towards the promotion of classical music events in Malta. Summarily, the results suggest that the interviewed organisations do consider the use of social media as a prominent tool to promote their events notwithstanding the fact that they also use traditional marketing tools in order to reach a wider audience. Results from the questionnaire suggest that today most people use social media to identify details of these events, however word of mouth, particularly amongst family and friends has proven to have a more established popularity. It looks at the way text and image have merged together in several works of art and how these are perceived by viewers, with focus on their attitudes and opinions. The research was conducted through in-depth semi-structured interviews with professional artists and two different focus groups. One focus group included people who enjoy art, while the other focus group included people who are indifferent towards it. These participants were shown several works of art which include modern typography and were asked questions which bring to light their perceptions about each work. The dissertation includes a literature review in which an overview of the relevant literature regarding this subject is presented. The topics brought up here are linked to the findings which emerged during the analysis of the empirical research. These findings show that modern typography can move beyond the absolute clarity of text and is able to communicate its meaning through an unconventional means of expression. Legibility might make a work involving modern typography seem more appealing to the viewer, but meaning is not strictly tied to legibility and interpretation may actually be heightened when text is less transparent. Finally, a general conclusion is provided, with further recommendations for future studies that could be conducted from this work. The long essay starts with a definition of privacy and surveillance then continues with the evolution of technology and its implications. The explosion of new technology in the past decades has really changed the world. With technological progress privacy invasion is very likely to occur. Technology advances have created new opportunities but also has brought about unwanted disclosure of personal information. When one is educated one can make better choices, especially when certain information can be controlled. What people do in private, could also be made public in the digital world, therefore people should have full control of their own information and not be too involved in disclosing certain information to maintain one’s social life, because not all sites provide adequate privacy management. It is important that individuals are aware of who has access to their data, how their data is being processed and for what purposes the data is needed, especially after the scandal of the NSA which was revealed by Edward Snowden.
