Bosta xjuħ, ta' abilta limitata, ma setgħux isibu post mal-familji tagħhom fl-irħula li laqgħuhom. Daqs 160 minnhom ġew rikoverati fl-iskola tal-gvern ta Ħal Qormi, b'inizhattiva tad-direttur tal-edukazzjoni, Dr Albert Laferla. L-iskola ġiet mibdula f'"Home" aposta għalihom immexija għal kollox mid-dipatiment tal-edukazzjoni. "Medical Superintendent" kienet id-Dottoressa Irene Condachi (School Medical Officer); nurses kienu 21 soru ta' erba Kongregazzjonijiet differenti (Franġiskani, tal-karita Duminikani u ta' Nuzzu), mgħejjunin minn teachers, maids, chairwomen, ħasselin, etc. Kolla "caretakers" ta skejjel li kienu magħluqin minħabba l-gwerra. Jien li kont dħalt fid-dipartiment biex nieħu ħsieb il-kura spiritwali tat-tfal, wara Monsinjur Giuseppe Darmanin sibt ruħi Direttur spiritwali ta' din il-Home tax xjuħ, ta' abilta limitata għal matul il-gwerra kolla. 1980-05-10T00:00:00Z Defining the micromuseum from curators’ perspectives /library/oar/handle/123456789/127632 Title: Defining the micromuseum from curators’ perspectives Authors: Vella, John Abstract: This study aims to establish a basic definition for micromuseums. Research was conducted among twenty-one micromuseums on eight Mediterranean islands guided by semi-structured interviews with curators of independent, private, and state micromuseums on the Maltese Islands, the Ragusan Province of Sicily, and other islands for comparative purposes. All gathered information was analysed, and the findings indicate that there are specific factors which contribute to defining a micromuseum and differentiate it from traditional establishment museums. In comparison to earlier literature on micromuseology, the study revealed that micromuseums, among other characteristics, focus on specific themes and collections not typically found in larger museums, operate with minimal visibility, have staff members who perform multiple roles, cater to niche audiences, employ curators who are experts in their field, and prioritize interactions between curators and visitors. 2024-01-01T00:00:00Z Meta l-Iskola Primarja tal-Mosta waqfet tuża l-Oratorju Qalb ta’ Ġesù : ħarsa lejn uħud mid-dokumenti uffiċjali /library/oar/handle/123456789/126163 Title: Meta l-Iskola Primarja tal-Mosta waqfet tuża l-Oratorju Qalb ta’ Ġesù : ħarsa lejn uħud mid-dokumenti uffiċjali Abstract: Id-deċiżjoni tal-edukazzjoni obbligatorja ġabet magħha żewġ problemi serji: l-ewwel xejn kien hemm bżonn ir-reklutaġġ ta’ iktar għalliema, li bilfors uħud minnhom ma kienx se jkollhom lanqas il-minimu tal-kwalifiċi meħtieġa biex jgħallmu u kien hemm bżonn ukoll l-iskejjel infushom, fejn se jsir it-tagħlim għaliex issa l-influss kien se jikber ħafna. Kien hemm bżonn infrastruttura sħiħa biex takkomoda b’mod komdu lil dawn l-istudenti kollha. Fil-fatt, f ’diversi rħula, il-gvern kien beda jikri d-djar mingħand il-privat biex dawn iservu ta’ skejjel u klassijiet. Din il-miżura offriet sfida għax wara kollox dak il-bini ma kienx inbena biex ikun skola imma għal għan residenzjali. Biex in-nies tgħix u toktor fih. Fil-fatt, “fil-Mosta, l-iskola bdiet għal nofs is-seklu dsatax. Fl-1858, il-bini li fih kien hemm l-iskejjel tal-Mosta kien mikri liri fis-sena.” Erbgħin sena wara nbena apposta bini fi Triq Grognet biex iservi ta’ skola primarja. Fil-Mosta, l-Oratorju tal-Qalb ta’ Ġesù, mekka importanti u storika fil-kultura żagħżugħa Mostija, minbarra l-impenji li għalihom kien twaqqaf fosthom it-tixrid tat-tagħlim tal-Katekiżmu Nisrani, kien hemm żminijiet meta l-Oratorju kien jilqa’ fih l-istudenti tal-iskola primarja. 2024-01-01T00:00:00Z Science handbook for primary teachers /library/oar/handle/123456789/122596 Title: Science handbook for primary teachers Authors: Gatt, Suzanne Abstract: The main goal of the Hands-on Science (H-Sci) network is to promote experimental teaching of Science as a way of improving in-school scientific education and Science literacy in our society. The H-Sci network has a broad remit, aiming to promote and diffuse among schoolteachers, schools, and national and transnational educational boards, well established and newly investigated practices of hands-on experimental teaching of Science in all its disciplines. It fosters the development and use of hands-on experiments in the classroom so that students "do" science rather than merely be "exposed" to it. A task force has been established under the umbrella of the H-Sci network to co-ordinate a public relations campaign about Science education. This is aimed at students, teachers and educators, schools and the community, Ministries of Education and Education bodies, in a systematic attempt to demonstrate the benefits of an extended use of hands-on learning of Science. Educational kits of hands-on experiments and support material at different levels of complexity are being designed, created and discussed. Textbooks and reports, including electronic interactive versions, are being produced in different languages and disseminated. Initiatives in Hands on Science in Malta have been various. The first year of the project (2003-4) has seen a number of schools joining the network and taking initiatives in introducing hands on activities in Science. In January 2006, a seminar on 'EU Enlargement and Scientific Literacy and Development' was organized. This year, there is among other initiatives, the Musical 'L-Esperimenti ta' Fjona'. The play was first performed by Teatru Qroqq at the St. James Cavalier, Malta. It was produced by Isabelle Gatt directed by Marcelle Teuma with musical arrangements by Sigo, Michelle Cachia Castalletti, Norman Cristina and Derek Grillo. Hands on Science has also supported the Home Science Day in Gozo organized by the Science Centre at the Education Division who is also a partner in Hands On Science. This publication complements the musical 'L-Esperimenti ta' Fjona'. It includes some scientific content, a few practical tips about carrying out the experiments carried out on stage, as well as worksheets which teachers can use in classroom with their students when they go back to school. The intention is to encourage primary teachers to build on the children's experiences and to try out some of the investigations observed on stage - thus having 'hands on science'. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students who have worked hard both for the performance as well as for the collaborative work in compiling this publication. I hope that you will make good practical use of this booklet. 2006-01-01T00:00:00Z
