Abstract: Manoel Theatre and the Malta Song Festival Board present the programme for the National Pianists' Contest, featuring the musical works of Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Debussy, Mendelssohn, and Schubert. The contesting pianists participating in this event were the following: Kathleen Farrugia, Kathleen De Domenico, Evelyn Caruana Galizia, Anne Gauci, Edith Mangion, Ninnia Cuschieri, Marthese Gauci, Josette Mangion, Simone Camilleri, Louise Scerri, Louis Muscat, Lilian Camenzuli, Joe Chetcuti, Edwin Demarco, and Carmen Formosa. The contest was held on the 27th of May, 1965, at the Manoel Theatre, in Valletta.
Description: Regular programme and souvenir programme included. Regular programme includes programme list with pianist names, song titles and composers, list of Manoel theatre Management Committee, and list of forthcoming events in the Manoel theatre. Souvenir programme includes note on the Malta Song Festival Board of the Young Christian Workers Movement, note on the first National Pianists' Contest, photos of participating pianists and Dr Karl-Gustav Wollenweber. list of acknowledgements, note on the 1964 winner of the National Pianists' Contest May Grech, photo of Charles Arrigo, and note on the Malta Song Festival Board with a list of its members.
