Abstract: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Culture Hon. Alex Sceberras Trigona, and the Manoel Theatre present the programme for the concert version of the opera "Tosca", composed by Giacomo Puccini, conducted by Mro. Joseph Sammut, and performed by the Manoel Theatre Orchestra (led by Geroge Spiteri) and the Manoel Theatre Choir. The concert starred singers Lorenza Canepa (soprano), Gianni Mastina (tenor), Joe Vella Bondin (bass), and Silvestro Sammaritano (baritone). The performance was held on the occasion of the Malta International Arts Festival 1986, on the 1st of August, 1986, at St. Paul's Square, in Mdina.
Description: Two copies of programme included, one with soloists Lorenza Canepa's, Gianni Mastino's, Joe Vella Bondin's and Silvestro Sammaritano's signatures, and the other without. Both programmes include list of soloists, note with painting picture on Manoel theatre's founder Grand Master Antonio Manoel De Vilhena, note on the Manoel Theatre Foyer, essay on Mdina and its landmarks written by Michael Ellul, map of Mdina, picture of composer Giacomo Puccini, note on the opera Tosca, note on composer Giacomo Puccini, list of members of the Manoel Theatre Orchestra, note with photo on conductor Mro. Joseph Sammut, lists of female and male members of Manoel Theatre Choir, and photos of singers Lorenza Canepa, Gianni Mastino, Joe Vella Bondin and Silvestro Sammaritano. Programme with signatures also includes a separate fillable form to become part of the Friends of the Manoel Theatre, which may or may not have been given with the programme at the time of the event.
