Abstract: One of the issues in the debate on religion is that the term "religion" in contemporary literature is often used interchangeably with "spirituality". Though undoubtedly these two factors share many things in common, some important distinctions remain. It is not the purpose of this study to delve into this discussion. However, a few clarifications can help to organise the data available and to guide the analysis to follow.
