Abstract

Our dissertation consists of a research carried out in the most important newspapers published in Malta during the years 1931-1945. We catalogued, categorized and indexed all the articles written about education in the newspapers of this period. A concise overview of the political, economic and historical background is given as an aid to the researcher to be able to put in a context the educational development during that period. At the end of the dissertation we indexed the different authors and names that appear in the articles. The research methods employed in the writing of this dissertation consisted mainly in looking for, and analyzing primary sources, mainly newspapers held at the Biblioteca at Valletta. In the analysis of this period, secondary sources, mainly books, that give a good educational, historical and sociological background, were also considered.
