Videography and photography

One of the main functions of MCAO has always been the capturing and transmitting of UM-driven initiatives, information, promotions and research at both an internal (within the University itself) and external level (the general public).

Combining the two disciplines of videography and photography provides a visual record and archive of the University, whilst engaging its target audiences from an academic and administrative aspect.

The 2024-25 Academic Year was characterised by another high-volume period for video production, with a mix of short-form social media content and long-form documentation. A total of 223 videography assignments were logged and completed, with approximately 20 completed requests per month. As with design assignments, each request necessitates a stipulated period of time for completion – depending on whether filming or editing only is required (rare) or a combination of both (common). A substantial amount of such assignments are also split up into several days of filming, while several individual clips may be logged and grouped together for ease of reference. This means that the total of 223 videography assignments is only a representative and categorised number of a larger figure of individually-produced clips for that timeframe.

For the two-member team, this work is also shared with Photography tasks; the total number of completed assignments last year amounted to 308.

With a combined output of 531 assignments, MCAO’s AV team yet again managed to successfully balance the demand for rapid-turnaround content and the quality required for official institutional documentation.
