Fast forward sixty years, and independent Malta is an EU member state with a diversified economy dependent on migrant workers. So much has changed. This book documents and critiques the unparalleled transformation that has gripped the 'workscape' of the Maltese Islands within living memory. Its chapters focus on specific labour market themes and economic sectors to chart and explain recent trends. The text is also a tribute to Professor Edward L. Zammit, whose academic work on social class, labour and industrial relations in Malta helped to form, as well as shed critical light on, this dynamic period.
