This research project is one of the first attempts at exploring the experience of factory life of a number of Maltese women.

Life on the Line is a qualitative investigation which aims to combinethe sociology of work and the labour processwith gender issues in a local manufacturing concern set in a marginal position within the global capitalist world. The central participants of the book are the women who as "factory girls" are given a rare opportunity to express their views and feelings regarding their life at work.
