Many of these librettos were formally in the collection of the late M. A. Borg (1868-1939) impresario and playwright, purchased by the Library in 1980. This catalogue tries to establish the publisher or priter as well as the date of publication of each item, and to give as far as possible in a uniform way the names of singers named (often partially or carelessly) in the cast-lists. The catalogue is preceded by the first study published hitherto of the Maltese libretto, and is followed by full indices of titles, composers and librettists."}
