The Department of Health Systems Management and Leadership organised an interactive Workshop titled Implementing Digital Applications in Healthcare: From Strategy to Practice on Thursday, 7 May 2026, at IT ¸£ÀûÔÚÏßÃâ·Ñ VC101.

The workshop was delivered by Prof. Dr Dr Stefanie Steinhauser from OTH Amberg-Weiden, who also brings practical clinical experience as a dentist.

Designed for MSc students and healthcare professionals, the session explored how digital healthcare solutions can successfully move from strategy into real-world practice. Through interactive group activities using tools such as the Balanced Scorecard and Business Model Canvas, participants worked on case studies to understand how digital health initiatives can create value, support organisational goals, and remain financially and operationally sustainable.

The workshop also addressed the practical challenges and trade-offs involved in implementing Digital Innovation within healthcare systems. Discussions were guided by Prof. Sandra C. Buttigieg, who helped participants connect the case studies to the Maltese healthcare system and Local realities.

Overall, the workshop encouraged participants to adopt a systems-thinking and evidence-based approach to digital healthcare innovation, highlighting the importance of informed decision-making over marketing trends and industry hype.
