The Effectiveness of Diet in the Management of Type 1 Diabetes in Paediatrics is the title of a lecture organised by the Department of Food Sciences and Nutrition, Faculty of Health Sciences.
Speaker: Ms Heather Donald, Lecturer in Dietetics from Robert Gordon University
The lecture will be held on Wednesday 3 April, from 12:00 to 13:30 at the South Auditorium, Faculty of Health Sciences, Block A, Level 1, Mater Dei Hospital.
Maintaining a healthy diet is important for type 1 diabetes management and is designed to provide maximum nutrition, while also requiring monitoring the intake of carbohydrates, protein, and fat. With no single universal diabetes diet being able to achieve this, how does the dietitian and the multidisciplinary team ensure they adopt a patient-centered approach while not contradicting each other and causing confusion to the patient with regard to diet?

This talk will highlight that a seamless approach to dietary advice can be achieved by a proactive multidisciplinary team by encouraging patients to be mindful of what they eat their body response to certain foods.
