After the success of last year's first edition, and following a related event in Gozo a few weeks ago, the Department of Italian and the Ministry of Education held Italian Day on 21 November. Una giornata con l’italiano all’università brought secondary school students to campus for a focused programme on Italian language and culture.
More than 160 students attended, engaging in a programme packed with interactive and educational activities. Students explored fun facts about Italy delivered by Dr Fabrizio Foni and Dr Glen Bonnici. They then took part in a quiz, coordinated by Ms Christine Borg, and a caccia al personaggio.
The event was opened with greetings from H.E. Valentina Setta, Italian Ambassador, and Prof. Gloria Lauri-Lucente, Head of the Department of Italian. The initiative was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, with the support of Education Officer Ms Christine Borg. Prof. Joseph Pace Asciak and Ms Marion Pace Asciak assisted with the preparation and logistics of the event.
This second edition of the Italian Day offered students a unique opportunity to connect with the Italian language and culture, highlighting the Department’s ongoing commitment to promoting Italian in schools and the wider community.
