Dr Felicity G. Attard, a member in the Department of International Law, has been re-elected President of the International Law Association Malta Branch at a general meeting held recently at the University of Malta.
Dr Attard has been a founding member of the Branch and as President she has seen it develop into a major focal point for the study and promotion of international law in Malta.
Under her leadership, the Branch which now includes not only distinguished Maltese personalities but also law students has initiated a series of lectures on the practice of international law thereby giving students the opportunity to learn the realities of international law beyond the textbooks.
The Branch has nominated Professor Patricia Vella de Fremeaux to sit on the ILA Committee on Protection of People at Sea.
Dr Attard sits on the Executive Council of the International Law Association in London and has been invited to lecture on international law topics at leading international conferences and universities. At the AGM, Professor Patricia Vella de Fremeaux was re-elected as Vice-President of the Malta Branch, Professor Omar Grech was elected as Secretary and Treasurer, and as Media Officer.
