Dr Spiteri Miggiani delivers a keynote at the University of Alicante

Last week, Dr Giselle Spiteri Miggiani from the Department of Translation, Terminology, and Interpreting Studies at the Faculty of Arts delivered an invited keynote speech at the international conference "Global Perspectives on Technology-Enhanced Language Learning and Translation" held at the University of Alicante on 25 and 26 September and organised by the . The conference focused on the implications of AI in language and translation training. Dr Spiteri Miggiani presented a research-based competence framework for audiovisual translation training in university contexts, considering AI technologies and emerging professional profiles.

Dr Spiteri Miggiani specifically focused on AI dubbing, a technology-driven multilingual service for which UM students enrolled in the Audiovisual Translation Specialisation within the Master's in Translation and Terminology are being trained. UM is among the first universities globally to introduce this training. The Department of Translation, Terminology, and Interpreting Studies strives to align its curriculum with emerging industry demands, offering pioneering training that equips students with the necessary skillset to gain a competitive advantage.
